Craig Hensley's Programs
Programs at Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library in Kansas City, KS

Prior to returning to the Kansas City area to manage education programs at Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library, an Environmental Learning Center in Kansas City, KS, Craig banded birds at Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center and Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary in Missouri.  Craig has initiated a banding project at the library within Wyandotte County Lake Park and will soon undertake a project at Burroughs Audubon Nature Center and Library. In addition, he will be undertaking a long-term effort to examine Eastern Bluebird nest site fidelity in both Missouri and Kansas.

You can contact Craig at chensley@kckpl.org to find out how you can become involved with his projects and education efforts.

What is the extinction of a Condor to a child who has never seen a wren?” -Robert Michael Pyle

Craig Hensley, Naturalist and Educator, has been teaching children and adults about birds through programs and banding birds for many years from Minnesota to Texas. Craig has used bird banding throughout his career to provide especially children beak-to-nose opportunities to see songbirds, experiences he believes will go a long way to enhancing the sense of wonder in a child – and perhaps creating future bird watchers – and more importantly – conservationists.
